The area has been designed as a flexible space, able to adapt to the different needs of the local community. A morphological configuration without architectural barriers offers a high degree of fruition and maneuver flexibility for the staging of special “events” especially during the summer. Our intervention takes place mainly in the new pavement with the beautiful local stone from the nearby quarry Benkovac according to a design that evokes the tradition and at the same time highlights the hierarchical relationships between the various spaces. The benches are obtained by placing a few large square blocks of limestone in order to recover, in a contemporary way, the old local tradition of “siđe.” The project also provides for the addition of trees. They will fulfill primarily a social and recreational function, protective, aesthetic architectural and cultural by increasing the overall quality of the area. The species concerned are native or naturalized in order to determine more environmental and economic sustainability (because of less need for care).
