Square Sv. Petar

About This Project

The area, a lovely terrace overlooking the sea, is in central position with respect to the small village of Sv. Petar that keeps today, in spite of tourism and proximity to the city of Zadar, its typical feature, we could say his genius loci. With our intervention we tried to listen as much as possible this genius loci by respecting the place and by integrating with it according to the thought expressed by Christian Norberg-Schulz where “architecture must interpret and must be compatible with the place.” The project was created and inspired by the desire of local public administration to enhance this area by creating a new center here, a place for meeting and socializing. It involves the construction of a small pedestrian square and in one of the abandoned buildings that overlooks the square a tourist office, a small exhibition center and a meeting room. The works to be carried out on the square will focus on the paving, street furniture and finally the green. It also provides a rich reuse of much of the material, starting with the stone, today in this site.
